Get started quickly.
InstallationTo install Timelet, copy the Timelet file to the add-on folder in the Palm Desktop directory on your computer. Use the Install Tool to install it on your handheld device.
Registration
Before using Timelet, please be sure to register your copy of the program. Registration provides important benefits including free program updates, bug fixes, and online support. To register:
- Obtain an unlock key from your online vendor.
- Enter the unlock key in the registration screen. To get to the screen, open Options menu and select Register Timelet. You only need to do this once.
Setting Time Zones
Before activating the optional second time display, time zones must be set.
- Open Set menu and select Dual Time. The "Set Dual Time" screen opens.
- Select both local and "other" time zones. In the newer PalmOS handhelds (Palm OS version 4.0 or later) select only the "other" time zone. The local time zone is set in the built-in Prefs application.
Timer
Timer display occupies the lower half of the screen. To turn it on, double tap on that area. Active timer is controlled by taps on the screen in the following manner:
- Double tap resets the timer to zero. While reset, triple-tap turns the timer off.
- Single tap starts/stops (pauses) the count.
DUAL TIME DIGITAL CLOCK
Timelet features a digital clock with a dual time display: the local time and an optional "other" time for a different location. The local time is the same as the system time, used by all other applications on your handheld device. All schedules and alarms refer to the local time. Before using the dual time display, time zones for both locations (local and "other") must be set, as described below.
Time ZonesNewer Palm devices (Palm OS version 4.0 or later) have a built-in time zone support. Timelet extends this support to all Palm devices, including the original PalmPilot. To set time zones:
- Open Set menu and select Dual Time. The "Set Dual Time" screen opens.
- Select the "other" time zone as needed, by tapping on its name.
- If you have a device with time zone support, the local time zone has already been set in the built-in Prefs application (and can only be changed there). On older devices, select the local time zone here.
- Check the Other Time Display On checkbox and you are ready to go.
Display Options
Timelet’s display is flexible and can be customized to suit your needs: Avoid visual clutter by putting on the screen only the information you need. To configure display, open the Options menu and select Display Options. The following preferences can be changed:
- Show Seconds checkboxes can be toggled between local time and "other" time. It means that the seconds are always visible: either on the local time (large) display, or on the "other" time display.
- Show Leading Zero checkboxes are useful for displaying time in a 24 hour format, such as military time.
- Font selects one of two large display fonts.
ALARM CLOCK
Timelet changes your handheld device into a travel alarm clock. The alarm, once set, is not cancelled by switching from Timelet to another application or turning off the handheld. The alarm will still sound.
To set an alarm, open Set menu and select Alarm. The "Set Alarm" screen opens. Set alarm time, check Alarm On checkbox and tap the Done button. The alarm is set, and the alarm time is displayed in the upper right corner of the screen. Tapping on the alarm time also brings the "Set Alarm" screen. To clear the alarm, uncheck the Alarm On checkbox. Alarm only uses hours and minutes (no seconds). For more accuracy, use timer function.Only one alarm can be active (pending) at a time. Changing the alarm time while the Alarm On checkbox is checked reschedules the alarm to the new time. The alarm time refers to the local time. If the active alarm is moved into the past as the result of the time change, the alarm will be cancelled (and will not sound).
Note: Remember that the local time can also be changed by the change of local time zone.
TIMER
The Timelet timer has a large display of minutes and seconds, centered on the lower half of the screen. The timer can count up and down the intervals up to one hour (59:59). For timing larger intervals, use clock alarm function.
Double tap on the timer area of the screen to bring up the timer display (00:00). Single tap starts the seconds count. Successive taps stop (pause) and start the count again. Double tap resets the timer to zero (00:00). If not stopped, the timer counts for ever (or while the battery lasts, whichever comes first). After one hour (i.e. having reached 59:59) the count restarts from zero.To count a specific time interval, reset the timer and preset the number of minutes and seconds to count. Tap on the timer to start the count. The timer counts down (single taps pause/start the count as above). Upon reaching zero, an alarm will sound. The alarm will continue until user taps on the screen.
Preset the timer by entering digits in the graffiti area. Digits are entered from left to right. Any non-digit input is ignored, with the exception of backspace which is used for erasing. Remember that the digit at the first (and the 3rd) position must not be higher than 5. If you enter 6, 7, 8, or 9, the timer will beep and ignore input. Timer can be preset only in the zero state (00:00).
To turn the timer off, reset by double tapping first, then triple-tap on the screen. Switching from Timelet to another application also turns off the timer.
Note: While the timer is active (i.e. displayed on the screen), the screen will not turn blank. This prevents fumbling during time-sensitive operations. Using the timer for extended period of time may cause excessive battery drain and is not recommended. Use clock alarm instead.
