WHAT’S NEW IN VERSION 1.8

The version 1.8 of the Trilent Mail Proxy is a minor upgrade to make the proxy easier to configure and use.

WinLogo The Trilent Mail Proxy has satisfied the Microsoft technical requirements and has earned the right to carry the Designed for Windows logo. This certification is a testimony to the quality of our product. Customers can be confident that compliant products will execute on Windows XP and will not adversely affect the reliability of the operating system.

Installer

Setup now automatically configures the proxy, so after the installation is complete it is ready to go. (You still need to enter the registration code manually). Setup enters the Gateway Host Data, namely IP addresses for the inside and outside interfaces, on a best effort basis that should be correct in 99% of cases. For computers with a single network interface, the Setup enters the data for Single-Computer Operation. We recommend you review the configuration before the first use.

If a mail client is installed and configured on your computer, the setup also extracts SMTP and POP3 server names from the mail client configuration and enters them into the Mail Server Data dialog box. (Currently, this feature is available only for Outlook Express.) The setup assumes these are the servers you want to use, but you do not have to accept them. You can enter any servers you want.

If you are upgrading from an earlier version of the Trilent Mail proxy, the Setup will automatically uninstall the previous version before installing the new one. The configuration data will be preserved and the permanent registration key will unlock the new version, so there is no need to enter it again. However, the temporary evaluation keys are different in version 1.7.

Configuration Applet

You can now purchase the product from within the applet. Added a simple mail monitor and access control to the proxy.

Help

The help was modified and updated to reflect the new features.

The Mail Proxy Service

The proxy now supports up to 30 concurrent email connections. It has enhanced standards compliance with the Internet e-mail protocol (ESMTP/POP3) service extensions. Added minor improvements and modifications.
